Classical Guitar Corner Summer School<\/h1>\n

The Classical Guitar Corner Summer School is our Annual in-person event that brings together the CGC Community for a week of concerts, ensemble playing, lessons, workshops, performances, and socializing. It is unique in that the focus is all about the participants rather than the invited performing artists. Catering for the adult amateur the Summer School brings together a world-class faculty of teachers and offers a full week of music and socializing. This event fills up each year because the members of CGC Academy are keen to attend and see their peers. Summer School Details<\/h2>\n

When:<\/h3>\n

The annual Classical Guitar Corner Summer School is held in June and runs for 7 days ( check in, check out, and five full days of the program). The first evening will start with afternoon check-in, dinner, and an opening concert. The final morning will conclude with breakfast and a group meeting.<\/p>\n

Where :<\/h3>\n

The summer school will be held at Endicott College in Beverly, MA. Endicott is a picturesque liberal arts college in the town of Beverly. Beverly Massachusetts is located 16 Miles out from the city of Boston, and is located opposite the ocean on the scenic North Shore coastline.<\/p>\n

What:<\/h3>\n

The CGC Summer School will bring together dedicated amateur guitarists from around the country (and around the world!) to work on their technique, theory, musicianship, ensemble skills, and general musical understanding. There will be five full days of group ensembles, individual lessons, workshops, large ensemble, musical analysis, and socializing with other guitarists.<\/p>\n

Teachers:<\/h3>\n

There will be eight main teachers as well as some special guests at the Summer School and being an intimate environment, you will be able to interact with them all on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

Who is it for?<\/h3>\n

The summer school is specifically focused on the classical guitar, its techniques, and repertoire. It is recommended that you have at least a Grade 2 ability with reading and performance (approximately grade 2 for AMEB\/ABRSM\/Royal Conservatoire). You will be participating in ensemble groups that match your level of experience and also a large ensemble, so the ability to read standard notation at a basic level is a must. Apart from these requirements, we welcome all interested guitarists to take part in what will be an educational and enjoyable experience.<\/p>\n

*Please note that all participants must be over the age of 21 by June, this is due to our liability coverage.<\/p>\n

Accommodation<\/h3>\n

Participants will be staying on campus at Endicott College close to the Arts facilities, dining hall, and rehearsal rooms. \u00a0Rooms are available as private rooms with a private bathroom or shared rooms with a private bathroom. All rooms have air conditioning, wi-fi and are in a new building.<\/p>\n

Meals<\/h3>\n

The price of accommodation\u00a0includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner<\/strong>, starting from Dinner on day 1 until breakfast on day 7. The meals at Endicott are quite exceptional with a large modern dining hall, and a variety of meal stations to choose from.<\/p>\n

Please inform us if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies and we will do our best to accommodate you.<\/p>\n

Socializing<\/h3>\n<\/div>

Meal times and evenings are great times to socialize with your fellow guitarists. Picnics, playing pool, talking over a glass of wine, and discussing ideas over a meal all provide a great way to make friends and have fun.<\/p>\n

Student Concert<\/h3>\n

All participants are welcome to perform a piece in our student concert. You will never find a more supportive and appreciative audience!<\/p>\n

Individual Lessons<\/strong> : Each participant will be guaranteed two individual lessons with the teachers, and there will be more added if scheduling permits. These lessons are 30 minutes each and are open to fellow participants to sit in and listen.<\/p>\n

Small Ensemble<\/strong> : These ensembles will be put together with players of similar levels. Groups will work in the mornings with the same instructor for the duration of the school. In these sessions the instructor will go through daily technique warmup and ensemble repertoire to be performed in the final concert.<\/p>\n

Large Ensemble<\/strong> : At the end of each day we will get together to work on guitar orchestra pieces that includes all of the school participants.<\/p>\n

Presentations and Workshops<\/strong> : These will vary each day to include a variety of topics presented by a different teacher each day.<\/p>\n

Concerts<\/strong> : The teaching team will be performing concerts most nights with socializing to follow.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Registration for The Summer School<\/strong><\/h2>\n

CGC Summer School Fees include All lessons, workshops, concerts, and ensemble classes<\/strong>. Fees also include full meals and accommodation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • If you would like to bring your partner and share a room the total fee is $2995.<\/strong> This includes concert tickets and full meals for the partner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Deposit<\/strong><\/p>\n

    To secure your registration you will need to make a deposit of $100.<\/p>\n

    This deposit is non-refundable<\/strong> and will guarantee a place and room at the summer school.<\/p>\n

    To register for the Summer School you will need to pay a $100 non-refundable deposit. This deposit secures your spot and we will follow up with you to organize the payment of the remaining fees. The deposit is put towards your full payment. You can pay the deposit at the link below, at the bottom of the page.<\/p>\n

    Step 3 – Get Excited!<\/p>\n

    Once we have received your registration information and your deposit we will get in contact with you about the Summer School. We are excited to see you in the Summer for some great music!<\/p>\n

    Balance payment and cancellations<\/b><\/p>\n

    Your deposit is due at the time of registration and it will secure your place at the Summer School if there are still places available. This $100 deposit is non-refundable.<\/p>\n

    Once you have registered you will have until April 1st, to pay the balance of the Summer School fee. Payment will be available from January 1st and you will be emailed with a link to the payment portal. This second payment will be refundable up until May 1st, after which there will be no refunds given due to our non-refundable financial obligations to Endicott College.<\/p>\n<\/div>
